    Angelo State University Admissions

Angelo State University uses a three-tiered qualification formula based on Class Rank and ACT or SAT scores. Students graduating in the top half of their class do not have a minimum ACT/SAT score to meet. Students in the third quarter of their class must score a 23 on the ACT or 1030 on the SAT. Students in the fourth quarter of their class must score a 30 on the ACT or a 1270 on the SAT. Also, applicants must have at least a 50% probability of earning a C average during their freshman year, determined by the student’s high school grade point average. Students are also required to complete one of three curricula as designated by the Texas State University system: Texas Scholars Program, Texas Advanced High School Program, or the Distinguished Achievement Program. GED recipients must score at least a 23 on the ACT or a 1030 on the SAT to qualify for admission. Applicants must submit a nonrefundable $20 application fee along with their application, test scores, and official transcripts. Students who do not score 23 on the ACT or 1070 on the SAT must submit scores from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) examination. Students may receive credit for courses through examination by scoring particularly well on portions of the ACT or SAT or through taking the College Board Advanced Placement Test for a particular discipline.

Undergraduate students applying to Angelo State will have an application fee of $20. Applications can be submitted on-line through the Texas Common Application for Texas public institutions of higher education. There is no set application date; students will be notified on the university website if a particular term is closed for application.

As part of their application, students should submit high school transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores. Additional requirements include completion of the Texas Successive Initiative test or proof of exemption. Students should have completed high school courses satisfying the requirements of the Texas Scholars Program, the Texas Advanced High School Program, or the Distinguished Achievement Program. Students must generally meet the following minimum requirements: high school class rank in the top half, or minimum test scores of 23 (ACT) or 1030 (SAT) if ranked in the third quarter and minimum test scores of 30 or 1270 if ranked in the bottom quarter. The GED is accepted in combination with minimum test scores of 23 or 1030.

Transfer students and international students will have varying requirements depending upon their prior educational background.

Students applying to the graduate programs at Angelo State University should consult the individual department and/or school to which they are applying.
